PDP Urges Rivers People To Shun APC Membership Registration Exercise

By Rivers PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rivers State chapter says the membership registration by the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State is an exercise that does not have any positive intension for the people of the area, and therefore should be disregarded.

The Party says the people of Rivers State have no justification joining the APC, a Party led by the like of Gov Amaechi, Abe and Dakuku Peteside, who do not have the interest of the State at heart, following their recent action in working against the nomination and confirmation of the new Chief of Army Staff, Major General Kenneth Tobiah Jacob Minimah

The PDP notes that if the APC leaders in the State could kick against the appointment of Gen. Minimah, whom the nation is proud of, and was so nominated by a caring President, it goes further to show how unprogressive and evil-minded they are.

The Party recalls that the manner at which the APC leaders worked against the appointment of the new Executive Director, Finance and Administration of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr Henry Ogiri, was same way they employed all machineries to thwart the confirmation of the COAS, Major Gen. Kenneth Minimah, and are also at it against Dr D. W. Danagogo as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The PDP is of the view that participating in the APC membership registration in the State presents Rivers people as supporting the excesses and politics of self only played by the APC matadors which include Gov Amaechi, Sen. Abe and most regrettably, Hon Dakuku Peterside, who hails from same native compound with the Army General.

The Party also describes the APC as not only an ethnic party but an Islamic group, as all its 13 National Officers and leaders are Muslim faithful.

Rivers State cannot support a Party which all its top hierarchy are only Muslims, who are bent on pursuing Islamic agenda without considering the interest of the Christian fold.

The fact remains that for now, religion plays a vital role and a major factor in our politics or elections and that is why most top elective positions in government are paired up by both Christians and Muslims to reflect the unity of the Country.

The Party therefore reiterates its call on the people of the State not to have anything to do with the APC, starting with the rejection of the call by its leaders to register as members of the Party.
