Igbo political leaders meet, pledge to work together

Igbo political leaders on Sunday in Enugu rose from a meeting and reiterated their commitment to work together for the development of the South-East zone.

Rising from their first meeting in the new year in the Coal City of Enugu, they also agreed to work towards ensuring the unity of Nigeria.

Chairman of the South-East Governors' Forum and Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, spoke on their behalf.

Obi told journalists that henceforth, the meeting would hold regularly.

He said, 'We met for one purpose; and that is to discuss to agree to work together, as we have been working together as a zone.'

Minister of Finance and the Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and the Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, were among those present at the meeting.

Governors of the South-East states, except that of Imo State, were also in attendance.
