2015: Ify Nwobodo eyes Enugu East Senatorial seat, constitutes campaign team

The Chief of Staff to the Enugu State Governor, Mrs Ifeoma Nwobodo has made bold her intention to run for Enugu East senatorial seat in the 2015 general elections as she has constituted her campaign team.


Dressing them  on Monday night at No 1 Faulks Street, Zoo Estate, Enugu, which is also her campaign headquarters, it was gathered by THE CITIZEN that she appointed a former member of the Enugu State Local government service Commission, Mr Eddy Nnaji, as chairman, while the Managing Director of the Enugu State Transport Company (ENTRACO), Mr Okey Mba was appointed the secretary. A source who was among the invitees who confided in our correspondent on the condition of anonymity disclosed that the event was presided over by the chairman of the Association of Local governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Enugu state chapter and chairman of Enugu East local government, Cornelius Nnaji (alias Ike Nike), also set up eight sub committees for the purpose of the campaigns.

Present at the event that lasted from 7.00pmto about 10.00pm were the six local government chairmen from Enugu east senatorial zone, six chairmen of the PDP in the senatorial zone, Special Adviser (Political) to the governor, Special Adviser to the governor on PDI as well as the traditional rulers of her area among others.

Addressing the  gathering earlier, Mrs Nwobodo said it was no longer a rumour that she had decided to contest the election of the Enugu east senatorial election under the PDP and urged the caucus to work for the actualization of the dream.


Presently, the seat is presently occupied by Senator Gilbert Nnaji, a first time senator.
