SAN FRANCISCO, January 22, (THEWILL) - The House of Representatives Wednesday resolved to investigate the recent bomb explosion which killed about 50 persons in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The resolution was taken following the adoption of a motion of urgent national importance sponsored the lawmakers from Borno, and led by Hon.

Kyari Gujuba (PDP Borno).
The House unanimously adopted the motion and consequently urged the National Security Adviser, Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff and Inspector General of the Police,  to set up a committee that will complement the ad hoc committee.

While leading debate on the motion, Gujuba noted that the  event generated anger leading to the razing down of two central offices belonging to the same political party.

"The inevitable question been raised by the people of Maiduguri with the palpable political undertone to this dastardly act, is this savage mass murder a harbinger to 2015," he said.

According to him, if there is no proper investigation, the incident could portend serious danger for the successful execution of the 2015 general election.

He explained that it is capable of having negative attendant outcome that may lead to lawlessness.

The House also urged the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to immediately deploy its men and materials to alleviate the sufferings of victims.
