FBN, GTB, Zenith Bank record gains as market index grows by 1.11%

Trading at the Nigerian Stock Market (NSE) closed on Tuesday on a positive note as the All-Share Index (ASI) rose by 1.11 per cent to close at 41,931.63.

Guaranty Trust Bank Plc gained 56 kobo, followed by FBN Holdings Plc with 30 kobo. Zenith Bank chalked up 25 kobo, while Stanbic IBTC Holding garnered 23 kobo. FCMB Holding Plc and United Bank for Africa Plc gained nine kobo and seven kobo respectively just as Sterling Bank Plc and Fidelity Bank Plc appreciated by three kobo apiece. These gains pushed up the NSE Banking Index which rose 0.86 per cent.

Nestle Nigeria appreciated by a margin higher thanĀ its Monday's loss. Dangote Cement garnered N4.98, while Nestle went up by N19.94 compared with N9.95 decline it recorded the previous day.

Combined with gains by other 34 stocks, the ASI rose 1.11 per cent to close at 41,931.63, while market capitalisation added N148 billion to close at N13.439 trillion.
