PDP NEC confirms Muazu as party’s chairman

The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party in Tuesday affirmed the appointment of ex Governor Adamu Muazu as the new national chairman of the party In a meeting in Abuja on Monday, the NEC approved the Mu’uazu who had earlier been chosen by party leaders Sunday night.

The national deputy chairman of the party Uche Secondus piloted the affairs of the election.

He relied on section 47 (6) of PDP constitution to conduct the election Governor Isa Yuguda moved the motion for Muazu's nomination,which was seconded by Ndoma Egba to finally bring an end to Bamanga Tukur's era.

Muazu was immediately administered with the oath of office. Some pundits are restrained in their perception of the chairman because of corruption allegations hanging on his neck.

Meanwhile,a founding member of the People's Democratic Party and former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Kalu, has congratulated his erstwhile colleague, former Governor Adamu Muazu of Bauchi State, on his election as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

'Your election is a confirmation of your robust pedigree in leadership at various strata of the society and shows the confidence the party has in your capacity to lead the biggest political association on the continent.

'This is an enormous challenge and call to duty once more. I have the conviction that you will excel and bring a new lease of life to our party that is in dire need of stability.

Perhaps, your greatest task as you mount the noble saddle is to reconcile aggrieved members of the family, particularly those who recently defected over some grievances.

'I wish you a very successful tenure in this prodigious assignment,' Kalu said in a statement issued by his Special Adviser, Prince Oyekunle Oyewumi.
