Boko Haram: Market Day Raid Leaves Five Persons Dead In Borno

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, January 13, (THEWILL) - A market day raid by Boko Haram gunmen on Ladi-Kayamula village in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State on Sunday has left five persons dead and many others injured.

Ladi-Kayamula village is located on the outskirts of Maiduguri, the state capital.

The gunmen numbering about 20 were also said to set some houses and shops in the village on fire using improvised explosive devices (IEDS).

They were said to have stormed the village at about 2pm, targeting  traders who had come to the village on the market day.

They also slit the throat of a man who could not be felled by bullets.

However, the insurgents were repelled by the military troops who were mobilised to the area as they  fled into the Sambisa forest.

Confirming the incident, spokesman of the 7 Division, Nigerian Army, Col.

Mohammed Dole, said: "Yes it is true that some gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists invaded Kayamula village on Sunday where they wreaked havoc on innocent civilians.

We have mobilised our troops to the area and they are now patrolling the general area with a view to arrest the culprits.

" Dole was however unable to ascertain the casualty figure but he confirmed that normalcy has been restored to the village with  the people now  going about their normal businesses.
