Anambra State Governor-elect, Chief Willie Obiano, has called on all registered voters in the state to cast their votes in tomorrow's local government election in favour of all the Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).

In a statement entitled 'Ndi Anambra, Let's Complete the Race', the Governor-elect reminded Anambra voters that “the power to change your community is now in your hands.” He argued that APGA had clearly demonstrated a clear understanding of the development needs of the state and had gone ahead to tackle them.

Said Obiano in the statement, a copy of which was made available to News Express: “In the last eight years, we have seen our neighbourhoods transform with world-class roads and witnessed the return of schools to the Missions. Our communities feel safer to live in now than ever before. We have seen foreign investors build and operate flourishing businesses among us and witnessed our beloved Anambra State join the league of oil producing states in Nigeria.

All these great achievements were made possible by the APGA government under His Excellency, Governor Peter Obi.”

According to Chief Obiano, the council poll offers Anambrarians the chance to bring all the positive changes going on in the state closer home.

“We have a chance to domesticate governance and take direct responsibility for our own greatness,” he said in the statement issued this morning in Awka, the state capital, by his media aide, James Eze.

“We must remember however that APGA is the only party that can give us the quality of life we desire.

Governor Obi has shown enough of that at the state level but we must vote only APGA Chairmanship and Councillorship Candidates to ensure that these dividends of democracy trickle down to our villages and finally to our respective families. Please, let us vote for APGA!”

Chief Obiano also thanked Anambra voters for the massive support he received from them in the November 16, 17 and 30 gubernatorial elections in the state from which he emerged the Governor-elect. “Ndi Anambra, it fills me with joy to know that we can still act like one big and wise family when the occasion demands. I am happy that you all stood up to be counted when it mattered. Thank you so much for that,” he said.

Obiano, however, warned that APGA's victory in the gubernatorial elections would be more complete when all the Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates running on the platform of the party have emerged successful in the council polls. According to him, “It is only when we have cast our votes for APGA and elected party faithful into positions at all levels that we can ensure that all the giant strides of His Excellency, Governor Peter Obi, which we have pledged to surpass, can be replicated in all our communities.”
