Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji, has expressed shock over the death of Iyetade, the daughter of Literary Icon and Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, who died recently after a brief illness at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Charles Ajunwa, Governor Orji who said that he received the news of Iyetade's demise with disbelief, urged Prof. Soyinka and other members of the Soyinka family to take solace in Almighty God, who he said is the giver and taker of life.

Governor Orji who described the death of Soyinka's daughter as painful, implored the erudite professor not to be discouraged by this sad development.

"Though your daughter's exit is painful but you should be comforted that she lived a life worthy of emulation. My prayer is that God Almighty will give you and other members of your family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. May her gentle soul rests in peace."
