Mark reaffirms commitment to service

President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, has reiterated his resolve to total commitment towards service to humanity and the nation even as he bemoaned the unabating socio-political and security challenges facing the country.

Senator Mark said during a tour of his Benue South Senatorial district at the weekend that Nigerians should use this festive season to seek the face of the Almighty God as a way out of the lingering security challenges across the land.

Represented by his Wife, Helen, the Senate President urged the people to preach love and peaceful coexistence urging prayers for leaders in order to be guided by God's wisdom in piloting the affairs of Nigeria.

With God's wisdom and guidance , Senator Mark opined that Nigeria would over come her challenges and make the nation a better place for all.

His words; “My visit is not only to felicitate with you this season, but to also remind you as patriotic Nigerians, the need to seek God's intervention in our country. We have witnessed series of violence . We have lost many of our loved ones on account of violent attacks.

“It is high we say enough is enough .Our resources are hugely spent on security, in order to maintain law and order across Nigeria. These resources would have been channeled to some other developmental needs.

The Senate President pledged “I will not deviate from the service to our fatherland and I urge every Nigerian to be part of this crusade. All we need is to return to God and He will answer us.”

Senator Mark who was elated by the large turn-out in this year constituency annual visit, emphasized that the food items including but not limited to bags of rice and clothes distributed across the wards in the Senatorial district advised that the items must be shared to the less privileged, widows and the aged in the society .

He tasked the executive Chairmen in the nine local government areas that constitute Benue South Senatorial zone to ensure diligence and service delivery to the people.

In their remarks to the gesture of the Senate President, the Chairmen of the nine councils in the Zone who spoke through the chairman of Otukpo local government council Dr. Innocent Onuh commended Senator Mark for the love and passions he has for his people .

They pledged to make service delivery to the citizens the cornerstone of their administration.
