2015 : PDP hopeful of retaining victory in Abia

By The Citizen

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia, Chief Emma Nwaka, said on Monday that the party was preparing for a landslide victory in the 2015 general elections.

Nwaka told newsmen in Umuahia that at the moment, no other party had the potential to replicate what the PDP was doing in ther state.

He said the PDP was not ready to give up on leading Abia, adding that opposition parties would only try.

Nwaka said the PDP would continue to dominate Abia politics as long as it did what was acceptable to the masses.

“As long as we continue to do things right as we are doing now, the PDP will continue to rule in Abia,'' the party chief said.

He gave an assurance that the party would come out of its current challenges at the national level unscathed.

“No other party can do what we are doing because we are in touch with the grassroots.

“When you talk about opposition parties in our state, you talk about personalities, while for us, the PDP is a movement,'' he said.

Nwaka said the PDP was not behaving as if it was the only party in the state.

“We are not stopping any opposition party from wooing the people but the important thing is that the people are happy with what we are doing.

“We encourage them to challenge us because I am happier when I have a good opponent so that if I knock you down, I should be able to celebrate,'' he said.

Nwaka, however, said that recent developments had portrayed some party chieftains as not acting in the best interest of the party.
