SAN FRANCISCO, December 14, 2013, (THEWILL) - The Nigerian Army may have scored another major success against the Boko Haram insurgents with the recent killing of about 25 of the gunmen in a clash with the troops of the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army in the Ngauramari area of Bama Local Government Area of  Borno State. Disclosing this in a chat with journalists in Maiduguri, the state capital, on Friday, a senior Army officer who craved anonymity said the military in its avowed effort to make the forthcoming holidays peaceful and violence-free will continue to confront the insurgents until they are flushed out of their hideouts in the area. A driver, who also saw the corpses of the Boko Haram insurgents said : "I saw the corpses of three Boko Haram terrorists left by the road side, I learnt that they came on motorcycles.'' He disclosed that the insurgents were caught in their acts when they tried to  attack  motorists in the early hours of Friday but had their weapons jammed. The insurgents, he added, were subsequently attacked by the troops of the 7 Division who fired a Rocket Propeller Grenade (RPG) at them. He said  the military supported by aerial surveillance also pursued some of the sect members into the bushes, caught up with them and were able to crush about 20  of them  . The spokesman of the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Col. Muhammad Dole, could not confirm the development when contacted but  promised to come up with a statement later on the matter.
