Bode George: Supreme Court Upturns Conviction

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, December 13, (THEWILL) - The supreme court Friday upturned the conviction of Chief Bode George, a chieftain of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). George was convicted by a Lagos high court in 2009 and jailed for offences bordering on corruption and inflation of contracts while he was chairman of the Nigeria ports authority (NPA). He was convicted alongside former directors of the NPA. George, who had served out his prison term at the federal prison in Kirikiri Lagos, had appealed his conviction at the apex court.
