Paga provides payment platform for 16 mln Etisalat subscribers

Mobile payment service company Paga Nigeria took another giant step in its speedy spread in Nigeria market by its recent deal with Etisalat mobile telephony firm.

The two firms have firmed up a deal and the Paga now provides its mobile and financial services to 16 million Etisalat customers through the Etisalat Easy Wallet platform.

Under the arrangement, Etisalat customers will be able to use Paga to send and receive money in the range of between  N500  and N100,000.

Etisalat customers can also use the platform  to pay bills, pay for goods and services buy airtime.

In a related development,  Paga Nigeria has announced its partnership with online retailer Jumia for the provision of alternative payment options.

Under the partnership, Paga will provide payment options to customers using Jumia’s electronic commerce platform.


Paga said it would allow consumers to transact business without having to enter sensitive information like card details when making purchases online. Customers can now shop and pay for their purchases via their mobile phones, using Paga’s ‘SMS-to-Order’ product. Paga said it currently has over 800 businesses registered or in the process of integrating to use the platform to collect payments.

The mobile payment platform Paga now has over 1 million users and over 3,500 agents in 150 towns across 23 cities nationwide, making Paga the leading mobile payments service provider in Nigeria. It has just operated for  less than 34 months as a  commercial venture
