Man 20, who killed his father arraigned in Makurdi magistrate court

A 20- year old farmer, Aondongwa Iorshaa, has been arraigned before a Makurdi magistrate for allegedly killing his 70-year old father for sleeping with his wife.

The accused, who hails from Iorhemba Izwapue- Avi village, in Konshisha Local Government area of Benue state, allegedly hit his father on his head with a heavy log, which led to his death.

Arraigning the suspect on Monday before a Makurdi Magistrate’s court the police Prosecutor, Insp. Edward Imo told the court that the accused had confessed to the alleged crime.

Imo said that following a tip-off from a neighbour, the police arrested the accused who confessed to have committed the crime.

According to the prosecutor, the accused said he killed his father soon after he discovered that he was sleeping with his (accused) wife.

Imo said the offence contravenes section 222 of the Penal code laws of Benue state 2004.

Although no plea was taken, but the prosecutor, however, asked for an adjournment to enable the police conclude its investigation in the matter.

The Magistrate, Mrs Lillian Terseer-Tsumba, granted the prayer for an adjournment but ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody.
