Gov. Gaidam Requests For More Sophisticated Weapons From Federal Government To Fight Insurgency

Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe state has called on the Federal government and Defense headquarters to deploy more security men and procure sophisticated weapons to fight the present insurgents in the state and the nation at large.

"Coping with the insurgents we need more sophisticated weapons in order to fight the present insurgents that are having more sophisticated weapons than our present security agents in the country, their weapons are more sophisticated that can cause havoc within the shortest possible time.

Governor Gaidam was speaking during the inspection of places destroyed by the insurgents during their recent attack on the state capital.

The radical Boko Haram insurgents attacked military formations at Kukareto (233 Nigerian Army Battalion), Anti terrorists Block at Red Bricks Housing Estate, C.I.D. Office, Area Command, Mobile Base and C Division all in the state Damaturu, the state capital.

"Based on what I have seen in the course of the visit to all sites destroyed by the insurgents, it has revealed that they have more sophisticated weapons that can cause havoc within the shortest possible time" Gaidam said.

At the Presidential Lodge, the Governor was shown some vehicles, weapons and ammunitions recovered from the insurgents before ;proceeding to the 233 Military Battalion at Kukareto where the insurgents attacked with rockets propelled grenade and burnt down most of the structures.

The Governor visited all the affected places that was raised down by the insurgents in Damaturu.
