Endless war in Ogun PDP

To say that crisis is synonymous with the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may likely be stating the obvious.

If Chief Joju Fadairo and Alhaji Semiu Sodipo are not trading tackles over the state chairmanship seat, the Egbetokun-led House of Assembly would be having one axe or the other grind with themselves or with their governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD).

If the fear of a team that comprises Speaker Sabur Oladimeji Bankole, Senator Iyabo (Iyaniwura) Obasanjo-Bello, Pa Sule Onabiyi and Senator Jibril Martins Kuye (JMK) is not the beginning of wisdom for some people, there would be tussle over where the next governor would come from in 2011.

This time, the bone of contention is the erection of Local Government PDP Secretariat in the bubbling town of Ifo, the seat of Ifo Local Government in the state.

Daily Sun had exclusively reported late last year that the first LG Secretariat, built and donated to the PDP by the Chairman of the Ogun PDP Council of Elders, Alhaji Sule Onabiyi was to be commissioned by the Dimeji Bankole/Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello group at Ifo.

The Secretariat, situated at Coker area, according to Ifo PDP Constituency 1 Chairman, Alhaji Adebukola Murtala, was the first of its kind in Ogun State, explaining that all LG secretariats all along had been rented apartment.

But the commissioning and handing over of the building was put on hold when powers that be warned against breach of the peace premising the warning on the recent mayhem at the Ijebu East council in which lives were lost and property worth millions of naira were destroyed. But before anybody could say 'OGD' another Secretariat, on which an inscription- 'OGD House' also surfaced near the town's Police Station.

Trust politicians, while the 'OGD House' group is claiming to be the first to build the first LG secretariat for PDP in Ogun state, the Dimeji/Iyabo group is telling whoever cares to listen that 'Pa Sule Onabiyi's is the first while the 'OGD' stuff is just Governor Daniel's house and not PDP party secretariat.

With party primaries knocking at the door, the two controversial buildings would surely play some prominent roles in who controls the state as governor in 2011, and what ever happens, SBD will keep you posted.
