Activities all over Anambra State almost came to a halt yesterday as the people of the State assembled at the expansive All Saints field, Onitsha, which was filled to capacity for the campaign by APGA for the forthcoming gubernatorial election of November 16 in the State.

Before going to the venue of the campaign, they had earlier paid courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of Onitsha. Though the Obi of Onitsha was absent as he travelled out of the country, his full Cabinet received them.

Shortly after the APGA candidate, Dr. Chief Willie Obiano, with impressive experiential and academic credentials was introduced by Gov. Peter Obi and Chief Victor Umeh, he pledged to continue to serve the people of the State in the best APGA tradition. He based his speech on what he called the four Cs: Continue, complete, commission and commencement of new projects.

He promised to continue equipping Selected hospitals in the State, free medical care for those above 70 years, free education in primary and secondary schools, eradication of kidnapping, beautification of the areas already worked on by the Governor, execution of mass housing for civil servants and middle and Low income earners, free vocational education, free ante- natal care, among others.

Speaking further, Obiano who enumerated the projects being executed by Governor Obi assured the people of the State that he would continue and complete those projects. He mentioned specific projects he said were dear to his heart because they would touch the lives of the people, namely: Ndiukwuenu, Ebenebe, Atani, Ozubulu roads, as well as bridges, malls and water projects under construction and many others.

Obiano who described Gov. Obi's policy of disbursing money directly to the Church and other credible organizations as yielding tremendous fruits, assured that he would not only continue, but would expand on the practice since it had proved very effective in the distribution of resources for the good of the people of the State.

Earlier, the Chairman of the party, Chief Victor Umeh who introduced all those that contested the APGA primaries with Dr. Obiano, and who are united in their support for Willie Obiano, urged the people of Anambra State to reject the attempt to impose candidates on the State as represented by Dr. Chris Ngige. Describing what was happening as "Operation Osmosis", Umeh said that light as represented by APGA would certainly triumph against darkness.

In his own remarks, the Governor, Mr. Peter Obi said that seeing the crowd and the response of the people to APGA in Anambra State that he was convinced that the campaign was a mere formality.

Recalling the woes that befell the State during Dr. Chris Ngige's illegal Government, including the burning of all the patrimony of the State, the kidnapping of a Governor, lack of development of critical areas except few roads, the enlistment of the State in the pariah family, among other ills, he said Anambra State would not wish to go back to that dark age again. He said that recognizing his backwardness as a Governor, that Ngige had found a hobby in claiming Obi's numerous achievements as his. "Even recently, the man claimed that he was the o e who accredited Onitsha General Hospital that was achieved in 2008' he also claimed to have started most of the roads Obi is working on as well as conceiving even projects Obi is even yet to start", Umeh said.

The rally witnessed the endorsement of Willie Obiano by different groups, such as Hausa and Yoruba communities, Anambra Traders, all the President Generals in the 177 communities in Anambra State

Some of those that attended the programme include Gov. Peter Obi and his deputy, APGA National and State House of Assembly members, Emeka Ojukwu11, Ifeanyi Chukwu Enemchukwu, Ambassador Odi Nwosu, Okey Udeh, Chinedu Eluemunoh, among others.
