2015 politicking is distracting governance, Ekweremadu warns

THE Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has warned that 2015 politicking is gradually sidetracking the process of governance in the country and challenged the media to turn down the volume.

Ekweremadu spoke at an international experience sharing conference on media and elections in Abuja yesterday, just as Speaker Aminu Tambuwal  challenged the media to always stand by the constitution in its reportage and charged journalists not to give vent to the illegal acts of politicians.

Erstwhile director-general of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA Dr. Tony Iredia, in his keynote speech at the conference, said the Nigerian media was reflective of the society and decried what he described as the seeming reluctance of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to adopt technology as a way of checking malpractices in the voting process.
