OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN TO RESCUE INNOCENT NIGERIANS IN UK PRISONS
Our attention has been drawn conspicously to the anachronistic, antediluvian, barbaric and inhuman treatments of Nigerians who have been unlawfully detained and incercerated by the United Kingdom Border Agencies in Harmoundsworth Immigration Detention Centre, London. Colnbrook Removal Centre, London. Morton Hall immigration removal centre, Lincolnshire and other detention Centres in the United Kingdom without committing any crime or whatsoever.
The genesis of the story is that some Nigerians who commit minor immigration offences like overstay are arrested and treated like prisoners even when they have not been convicted by Court of Competent jurisdiction. The rule is that when you apprehend a person for having overstayed, all you need to do is to ensure proper investigation in order for the dramatis personae to renew his visa if he wants to continue to live in the UK or face deportation If he is no longer interested in staying there. But the UK Border Agencies deport Nigerians maliciously in consesus ad idem with Nigerian High commission staff who use the sinister opportunity to fraudulently collect 500 pounds on each person deported from the United Kingdom Border agencies to facilitate removal to Nigeria by the Chartered flight.
As we speak sir, about 5,000 thousand Nigerians including Children, students, evangelists who went to preach the word of God and pregnant women are been dehumanized daily by the Immigration authority in an unprecendented spate of man inhumanity to man in the era where the world have said caboodle rejectamenta to slavery or any form of modern slavery. It must be noted , that Nigeria was colonized by Britain that is to say Britain is supposed to be the mother of Nigeria where Nigerians dont have to genuflect in order to enjoy fundamental human rights inline with the provisions of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Article 1 submits lucidly that " ALL HUMAN BEING ARE BORN FREE AND EQUAL IN DIGNITY AND RIGHTS. THEY ARE ENDOWED WITH REASON AND CONSCIENCE AND SHOULD ACT TOWARDS ONE ANOTHER IN THE SPIRIT OF BROTHERHOOD" It is with note of pessimism and cynism to
discover that the reverse is the case. What a meander from the philosophy of human rights? A lot of Nigerians who commit or didnt commit immigration offence are languishing in their prisons. Some of them have died untimely in detention because of cold as there is no heater in the prison. Some of them are mentally ill as a result of the bad injection given to them to destroy their future. They also poison their food to destroy their sexual libido. Some of them have spent donkey years incommunicado contrary to Habeas Corpus Act. We view this modus operandi as a sadistic homo homini lupus . To demonstrate the hatred on Nigerians is the introduction of a racist and satanic policy that Nigerians need to pay 3,000 visa pounds before travelimg to United Kingdom as If one can pick gold on the streets of United Kingdom. Kudos to The Deputy Prime Minister ( Nick Clegg) who promised to block that racist policy against Nigerians. It is pertinent to
submit at this juncture, that alot of British citizens are working and walking freely on the streets of Nigeria without any form of intimidation and oppression by Nigerian Immigration authorities. One is astonished and preplexed that the country who contributed greatly to the fons et origo of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights are openly violating them.
As the mouthpiece of the voiceless, we are calling on the relevant authorities, human rights communities to intervene and rescue our people who have been subjected to refined form of slavery by the monstrous Immigration authorities contrary to article 2, 3, 4, 5 and 9 of the United Nation declaration of Human rights of which United kingdom is a signitory. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. No man is free when others are oppressed. Evil thrives when good men decide to say or do nothing. It is our onus to make this world a better place for us to live irrespective of our race, colour and sex.
