Travelers on Lagos-Benin Expressway should gear up for a grueling time as traffic gridlock returns to the road.

Travelers on that road last Thursday were held up at various spots between Ijebu Ode and Kajola for upwards of six hours. Some spent up to 12 hours.

Some of them slept in the thick rain forest that vegetate that surrounding.

It was a bumper -to-bumper as motorists struggled to gain advantage of one another.

THE RAINBOW correspondent reported that many who left Lagos as early as 7am that Thursday bound for Onitsha and other towns across the Niger bridge or even Benue State just managed to get to Ore or Benin before it became too late for them to continue their journey that day.

And incidentally, the two sides of the road were completely shut down with nobody to organize traffic to enable at least minimal movement. Few travelers managed to get to Lagos that day as they were also caught up in the web.

According to our correspondent , the traffic built up from early hours of that Thursday, triggered by a traveller accident but helped greatly deteriorating road.

It was learnt that some who tried to use alternative routes ended up worse off as they slept right there inside the thick forest exposed to vagaries of whether and thieves.
