The wife of the Enugu State Governor, Mrs Clara Chime, has called on women in the state to pray for the successful conduct of the Nov. 2 local council elections in the state.

Chime made the call in Enugu on Monday during the monthly prayer meeting organised by the state government for women in the state.

The governors' wife who noted that prayer was the key to effective leadership, urged women to also pray for credible candidates to be appointed during the elections.

“We must continue to pray for our families, state and our country in general to ensure preservation,'' Chime said.

In a sermon, Pastor Nicholas Chukwuka of the Watchman Catholic Charismatic Renewal Ministry, Enugu, said that prayer was a necessity in the country especially as the yuletide season was approaching.

“If there is anything we need in this nation now, it is prayer because of so many vices in our society today.

“We must not backslide in prayers. We must not condemn God this season,'' he said.

On his part, the Chairman of Nkanu East LGA, Pastor Sam Iyiogwe who was present at the parayer meeting, advised politicians to deliver dividends of democracy to their people to elicit their votes.

Iyiogwe, also a PDP candidate for the forth-coming council elections called on politicians to avoid violence and bigotry during the elections.

“Politicians should reach their people, change their people for people to support them. We must not to divide the state or cause confusion during the elections,'' he said.
