Statement by the spokesperson of EU High Representative Catherine Ashton on attacks in Mogadishu, Somalia

BRUSSELS, Kingdom of Belgium, September 9, 2013/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- The spokesperson of Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the Commission, issued the following statement today:

"The High Representative condemns in the strongest terms Saturday's attacks in Mogadishu. She deplores the casualties and her thoughts are with the families that have been affected. These acts of extremist desperation will not reverse the progress made in restoring peace and stability in Somalia.

The High Representative reaffirms that the EU stands firmly with the Somali people and

Government and remains committed to supporting Somalia's reconstruction. We will take this process forward at the Conference on a &ew Deal for Somalia in Brussels next on 16 September."
