A former Minister of Foreign Affairs from Kebbi State, Alhaji Buhari Bala has come under attacks by leaders of the North-west zone of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the party’s national convention slated for Saturday.

The party leaders are reportedly angry with the former minister for sponsoring a court case against their adopted candidate for the position of the party’s National Financial Secretary, Alhaji Bala Gwandu.

The former minister, the party leaders reportedly uncovered, sponsored three litigants to claim that Gwandu was unfit to be a national officer of PDP.

Messrs Emmanuel Abang, Andy Ockiya and Ugwu Azubuike had Tuesday approached an Abuja high court, seeking a declaration that Gwandu was unfit to hold the position of national financial secretary.

A former governor of one of the North-west states told Pointblanknews.com it was common knowledge in north east PDP that Bala sponsored the suit.

“Perhaps he doesn’t know that all of us know he sponsored the court case just to cause disaffection in the party, even when he clearly knows that Gwandu is the zone’s choice,” he stressed.

He disclosed that the zonal party leaders were considering “appropriate sanctions” on the former minister “for embarking on actions capable of bringing the party to disrepute.

“”Buhari Bala’s stock in trade is blackmail, and he has consistently got away with it, only that this time around we have stopped him in his tracks,” he added.
