Detectives from the Eziama Division of the Nigerian Police in Aba, Abia State have shot dead a female member of a gang who specializes in car snatching within the South East Zone.

A senior police at the Division told *Pointblanknews.com* the three man gang including the lady who was shot dead had snatched a Camry saloon car with Lagos state registration No. : KSF 657 AR at gun point from its owner at an undisclosed area of Warri metropolis.

He hinted that based on the development, police formations across the South East zone were put on red alert over the incident and they spread their net to nab the gang members.

A police source stated that the Eziama Division was alerted that the car which was fitted with a tracking device was within their jurisdiction.

Nemesis however caught up with the gang members on Thursday morning when the policemen from the Eziama Division on a routine patrol, saw the car at Egbulu, Eziama in Aba North council area and signaled it to stop.

Rather than heed the directive of the policemen, the three occupants of the car were said to have opened fire on the police team who responded without delay.

After the exchange of fire, the female member of the gang was gunned down by the police while her two partners escaped with bullet wounds and has been declared wanted by the police.

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Geoffrey proved abortive as his mobile number was unavailable as the time of this report.
