A group, Concerned Imo Professionals in Lagos, has asked Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, to thread carefully in his political adventure to gain relevance. It also criticised him for leaving the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), a party which platform he won the governorship election in Imo State.

Also the group condemned the action of Lagos government to expel some Igbo indigenes to Onitsha, insisting that on no account should a citizen of Nigeria be treated in such a dehumanizing manner in his own country.

The group in a statement by its President, Vitus Okwara, lamented that Okorocha is gradually losing political focus, while advising him to learn from history. According to the statement, “it was the people and through the platform of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) that gave him the popularity he is enjoying today and to throw away the platform as well as not listening to the voice of the people that gave him mandate because of political ambition is a political miscalculation. He should learn how to do proper consultation before taking certain critical positions ''.

The group also berated the position of Senator Chris Ngige over his comments on the expulsion that Governor Peter Obi was informed before the action was taken.

It stated: “For Governor Rochas Okorocha to have dumped the party that rode him to power, a party that is so dear to Ndigbo is serious political miscalculation and misadventure. He has to watch it before he will lose political relevance in Igboland.

''We are also using this opportunity to condemn the “deportation” action carried out by the Babatunde Fashola-led government. We are surprised that Lagos State government that has prided itself as not a hater of Ndigbo should embark in such shameful action.

''We are also shocked at some of the comments of Senator Chris Ngige, who has continued to defend the issue as if it was proper to deport those Igbo indigenes when nothing incriminating was discovered in their possession. Igbo indigenes deserve to be treated with respect because they in no small way assist in boosting the economy of the state.
