Atako emerges NDDC Ag MD

DR. Christian Atako has been appointed Acting Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

Until her appointment, she was Director of Education, Health and Social Services of the commission.

A statement by the Commission, yesterday, said: 'Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, conveyed the President's decision to the Chairman of NDDC Governing Board, Dr. Tarilah Tebepah, in a letter he read at the Board's valedictory session last week.'

The statement said that Dr. Atako's  appointment takes effect from August 7.

Her appointment comes on the heels of the expiration of the tenure of Dr. Chris Oboh as Managing Director/CEO.  Dr .Atako, one of the pioneer staffers of NDDC, was Assistant Director and Acting Head of Community and Rural Development Directorate at the inception of the Commission.

Before then, she was Assistant Director and Head of Public Affairs Department of the defunct Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission from 1995 to 2001.
