The plot to deny the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Capital Oil and Gas Ltd, Ifeanyi Ubah, the gubernatorial ticket of Labour Party (LP) in Anambra State was on Thursday uncovered by members of his campaign organisation.

But the party's chairman in the state, Sam Oraegbunam, has however, described the plot as foolish.

It was gathered that some top chieftains of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who have been advised to dump their gubernatorial ambitions by the party's national leadership, are allegedly putting pressure on LP National Chairman, Dan Nwanyanwu, to declare that Ubah is not qualified to contest the party's primaries.

Already a handsome amount of money is alleged to have been offered by LP leadership to execute the plot in order to stop Ubah from becoming its gubernatorial candidate, which Nwanyanwu is said to have turned down.

Director in Ifeanyi Ubah Campaign Organisation, Ifeatu Obiokoye, who spoke with reporters in Awka, warned that they would resist such plot, insisting that it is against Ubah's fundamental human rights.

“I want to believe that this is just a rumor, but the story has been flying all over the place and some of us are aware of it.

“We the members of campaign organisation are prepared to face this battle headlong and we shall use all legitimate means of stopping those spent forces outside Labour Party from hashing their plots.

“Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah is a son of Anambra State and a card carrying member of the Labour Party. He has not done anything wrong to warrant his disqualification.

“We also know that the National Chairman, Dan Nwanyanwu, is a man of integrity, who cannot be bought with money.

“We know that he will certainly resist such bloody offers by those who have been disqualified by their party”.

Obiokoye announced that the 177 communities in Anambra State have already been sensitised politically since Ubah joined the race, warning that those he called enemies of democracy should not dare the masses, who are already behind Ubah.

“Our people have become wiser and the entire communities in Anambra State have been sensitised on their civic responsibility since Ubah joined the race and those charlatans should not try their anger fro size”.

Also speaking, Oraegbunam described the plot as share foolishness

“This cannot happen and they know it. If your party says you will not be candidate, all you have to do is to obey your party.

“But people to begin to dream of coming to Labour Party to cause trouble I call it foolishness on their part.
