The Ogun State Police Command has rescued two Chinese nationals from kidnappers in Ogijo area of the state.

It was learnt that the victims, Sung Jiang She and Zhang Wen Xue, who are employees of Lee Group of Companies, were kidnapped at Odongunyan, Ikorodu, Lagos State and taken to a house at Sagamu-Ikorodu Road.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said on Tuesday that the police were able to trace the kidnappers to their hideouts and a gun duel ensued during which one of the kidnappers was killed.

He said, 'Around 3pm on Monday, the Assistant Inspector General in charge of Zone 2, Mammam Tsafe, called the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye, informing him that two Chinese nationals had been kidnapped at Odongunya, Ikorodu, Lagos state.

'The CP ordered the Divisional Police Officer, Ogijo, Toyin Afolaogun, to be on the lookout for the hoodlums. The DPO sighted and pursued the hoodlums , who were in a BMW car with number plate, CK 737 LSD, to their hideouts.

'The victims were rescued unhurt while one of the suspects was fatally injured. Others fled with bullet wounds. The CP has ordered the kidnappers' den to be cordoned off and placed under surveillance for further investigation to prevent hoodlums from using the remote building that is almost three kilometres off  Sagamu-Ikorodu road  for a similar operation.'

Adejobi said the matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, for further investigation, adding that efforts were on to apprehend the fleeing culprits.

The police spokesman said the items recovered were three locally made pistols with live cartridges, phones, masks and the BMW car.
