It is no longer news that son of 'holiness preacher' and the General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor W.F Kumuyi walked down the aisle with his heartthrob over the

The Deeper Christian Life Ministry has wielded the stick on  John Kumuyi, the second son of its General-Superintendent, Pastor William Kumuyi, for flouting the church's wedding dress codes.

The made-in-heaven wedding of Kumuyi's son took place in Jamaica on June 15, 2013.

However, teeming followers of Pastor Kumuyi have condemned the salacious wedding clothes, which they adjudged to be way off the church's puritanical standard.

A close look at the wedding pictures of the couple which turned viral online after the wedding shows the bride in clothing and accessories that had been anathema to the ministry.

She was clad in a transparent fitted stylish wedding gown, with short see-through sleeves. She also adorned eyelashes, earrings,  makeup and wedding flower, which had never happened in the history of the ministry.

John and his wife, former Love Odih , were accused of flouting the established doctrine of the church on conservative dressing.

Though the new couple had apologised, it appeared the authority of the church the apology was not persuaded by the apology as their action had brought the church so much negative attention in the weeks following.

In the video, their apology was read on Saturday by Pastor Akpofure, during the church's monthly miracle and revival programme, held at Deeper Life Conference Centre, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

It read in part,  'We unreservedly and wholeheartedly state that we did not intend that our acts or omissions will, in any way, undermine the great works that God has done through the Deeper Christian Life Ministry worldwide and  more especially, through our Father in the Lord, the General Superintendent.

'We also use this medium to profusely and sincerely apologise to the General Superintendent for the embarrassment and heartaches our actions have caused him, more so that he had earlier declined to be at the events.'

Pastor Philip Olowu, during the programme, said the church overseer had expressed his displeasure with the 'standard' of the wedding.

In the video, Olowu said after a thorough assessment of the wedding, the church had decided 'to place John and his wife on discipline.'

One member of the church, who was enraged after viewing the pictures,  was quoted in an online publication as saying,  'People have refused to live their own life but rather attach it to an apron of hypocritical philosophy and man-made doctrine. I exonerate the dynamic Senior Kumuyi,I think it is the people that have refused to change, I respect Kumuyi and his teachings but the people he is teaching are not learning, it is a pity, religion should embrace freedom, that is what the bible said. It only warned that you should not use your liberty for evil, or take the grace for granted.'

To one Jane Emeka, the development would lead to something laissez-faire wedding attitude in the church. 'I believe that with this, Deeper Life will metamorphose into something else. Those (some members) who have been looking for an opportunity like this to dress as they like, will cease this particular opportunity,' she said.

Attempts to reach the Public Relations Officer of the church, Mr. Segun Babatope, on the telephone were unsuccessful, as his phone rang several times unanswered.
