Boko Haram Gunmen Kill WAEC Officials, Police Escort In Borno

SAN FRANCISCO, April 21, (THEWILL) - Gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram Friday afternoon shot dead two officials of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and a policeman attached to the officials who were transporting examinations papers to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The officials, who were said to be coming from Yola, the Adamawa State capital, in a Toyota Hilux van with WAEC examination papers, were ambushed by the gunmen at Mule town about 25 kilometres to Maiduguri.

The gunmen who left the officials in the pool of their blood also took away their vehicle.

The body of the victims were said to have been evacuated by soldiers and deposited at a hospital mogue in Maiduguri.

A WAEC official who spoke to journalists on condition of anonymity confirmed the incident as the spokesman of the state Police Command,DSP Gideon Jibrin, could not be reached on his mobile phone.
