Members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Governors' Forum will meet today in Abuja. The venue of the meeting is the Akwa Ibom Governor's Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja where the Chairman of the new platform and Akwa Ibom Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, will preside.

Daily Sun findings revealed that members will discuss the structure of the new platform, its funding and how to mobilise funds for the party's National Working Committee (NWC). A reconciliation committee raised by the new platform at its inaugural meeting with Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema as Chairman, will also brief members at today's session.

Members of the committee of the new forum include Governors Gabriel Suswam and Emmanuel Uduaghan of Benue and Delta states, respectively, Adamawa State Governor Murtala Nyako and his Ebonyi State counterpart, Martin Elechi, are also members of the trouble-shooting team constituted by Chairman of the forum, Governor Akpabio.

Last Wednesday, the team met with some PDP chieftains from South-West in Abuja. Meanwhile, there may be no respite for the embattled Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, who just survived a move to remove him as Chairman of Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF). A source revealed that a plot to discredit Governor Amaechi ahead of the 2015 election had been hatched. The source said that phony documents intimating Nigerians of alleged financial sleaze in Rivers State under the governor would soon be released.

'The intention was to discredit Amaechi ahead of the election of new chairman of Nigeria Governors' Forum slated for May. The forces against him are not happy that he has rebuffed all entreaties not to recontest for the office'. Recall that the Rivers State Governor has also been linked with an alleged presidential ambition of the Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido as his (Lamido's) running mate. The two governors had since denied the speculated presidential ambition.
