Moses Braces Up For Tough Elephants

Nigeria winger, Victor Moses, is looking forward to a difficult quarterfinal game against Cote d'Ivoire at the Africa Cup of Nations this Sunday.

Moses, 22, also believes that the Ivorians know that it will be "a hard game for them."

The Chelsea man said the Super Eagles are focused on their strengths ahead of their clash with Cote d'Ivoire's Elephants in Rustenburg.

"We are just concentrating on ourselves at the moment. We just want to do our best. It’s going to be a hard game for us, but it’s also going to be a hard game for them," Moses told Fifa.com.

The ex-Crystal Palace winger knows that Cote d'Ivoire are pre-tournament favourites but believes they are beatable like Zambia showed in the 2012 Afcon final.

“Everyone is talking about the Ivory Coast. But the same thing happened last year, and you saw what happened in the end (they were beaten on penalties in the final by outsiders Zambia)," he said.

Moses, whose brace ensured Nigeria progressed into the knockout stages at the Afcon in South Africa, singled out Salomon Kalou for mention among the Ivorian squad.

“Kalou is a good player. I’ve watched him a lot. He scores goals, he’s quick. But we’ll look after him. The most important thing for the moment is to get together as a team, work hard together," he said.

"But I know the full squad. We’re just going to do our best, and we will try to win.”

Moses has also called on the Nigerian squad to "play as a team" irrespective of who is selected to feature against Cote d'Ivoire.

"We just want to play as a team (against Cote d'Ivoire) and make sure we score goals. Anyone can score, it doesn’t matter who - even the goalkeeper. If we get a chance, we just have to take it," Moses said.

Moses has made two appearances so far at the ongoing Afcon and has scored twice - both against Ethiopia.
