Two Persons Killed As JTF Repels Gunmen Attack In Kano

SAN FRANCISCO, January 17, (THEWILL) - Two suspected gunmen were killed, Thursday, and five others arrested as the Joint military Task Force (JTF) repelled an attack on it by the hoodlums at a checking point in the Mariri quarters in the ancient city of Kano .

Confirming the incident, spokesman of the JTF, Capt Ikedichi Iweha, said the attack happened Thursday evening.

Iweha said the suspected gunmen attacked a JTF check-point in the area which was quickly repelled by the operatives manning the check-point.

According to him, ‘’The JTF operatives were able to successfully repelled the attack as no member was killed or injured.’’

He explained that two other civilian passers-by including a woman had also lost their lives during an exchange of fire between the hoodlums and JTF operatives.

He listed items recovered from the gunmen to include several rounds of ammunitions and one AK47 riffle
