COMMENCE SEASON, MAIGARI TELLS NEW NPL

http://www.nigerianbestforum.com/blog/?attachment_id=121815 President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Aminu Maigari has asked the new interim management committee of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) to do everything humanly possible to kick start the 2012-13 premier league season in January.

Inaugurating the 13-man Management Committee yesterday at the board room of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) secretariat in Abuja, he said the early starting of the 2012-13 season has become necessary in view of the facts that the various national teams are due to play their continental championships in few months.

He charged the committee to do an excellent job of quickly and properly sorting out the lingering issues and run the 2012-13 league season brilliantly and in the process set up a template for the board that will come after the elections.

The committee is headed by Hon. Nduka Irabor, a former Member of the House of Representatives and respected football organisers and enthusiasts. The members are: Mallam Salisu Abubakar, Mrs Modele Sarafa-Yusuf, Hon. Sabo Babayaro, Mike Enahoro, Kunle Elebute, Shehu Dikko, Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi, Nwankwo Kanu, Barr. Ifeanyi Dike, Abubakar Nuhu Dan Buran and Mike Idoko. Tunji Babalola is the Secretary.

The terms of reference for the committee are to organise and run the 2012/2013 league season, review all contractual obligations of the NPL, including TV and Sponsorship rights, develop strategy and facilitate the reform of the League towards achieving profitability as well and review the existing rules and guidelines for the election into NPL Board. Te Committee is also expected to develop new standards for players' contracts and welfare.
