FORMER VICE-PRESIDENT ATIKU ABUBAKAR

SAN FRANCISCO, December 30, (THEWILL) - Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has called on Nigerians to enter the New Year with confidence despite the trials endured in recent times and with the optimism that good tidings will come to the nation and its people in 2013.

In a New Year message, issued on Sunday by his Media Office in Abuja, Atiku said the year 2013 offers all Nigerians fortunate to see it a golden opportunity for a new beginning.

According to him, “we, leaders and the led can change our ways as a people and work for the betterment and development of all the ordinary citizens of Nigeria.”

Atiku, however, said we cannot overcome our challenges if we lose faith in our country and deride the good values that sustain its unity and progress.

He prayed to God to bless Nigeria and its people in the New Year and to give its leaders the wisdom to guide the country out of the present difficulties.

He urged political leaders in decision-making positions to work hard to restore hope and dignity of the human person, especially ordinary Nigerians, brought upon them by conflicting interest of the elite.
