GOV OKWUTE AND HEALTH SECTOR OF THE STATE,IYIENU AND BORROMEOW

After opening prayer said by His Lordship ,RT REV BISHOP Valeria Maduka Okeke, Governor Peter Obi presented another cheque for ten million naira to St. Charles Borromeo Hospital, Onitsha for continuation of work on the hostel section of the School of Nursing Onitsha. Governor Obi later laid the foundation stone of the project. The amount brings to twenty million naira the sum released so far by the Governor for the project.


After leaving Borromeow Hospital ,The Governor also presented a cheque for ten million to Holy Rosary Specialist Hospital Onitsha to continue work on the on-going school of midwifery hostel project.He presented the cheque at the project site expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work done so far.


The Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Reverend Valeria Okeke noted that the State will never remain the same again as the Governor has made holistic impact in all sectors and holistic re-engineering and development plan have put the State on course of steady progress. He urged the Governor not to relent in his efforts to improve and transform the State and prayed for a worthy successor.


In a similar development, the Governor also presented cheques totaling 20 Million Naira to Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital, Ogidi for the on-going hostel projects of its institutions. Governor Obi who presented the cheques during a visit to the hospital said ten million naira is for the school of midwifery hostel while the other ten million naira is for the school of Nursing hostel block. He said his administration was determined to provide conducive learning environment for the students to acquire quality training and equip themselves to contribute adequate in healthcare delivery services.


Governor Obi said the money was to accelerate work on the buildings as government was determined to complete project on a record time. He explained that proper equipping of the institution will enhance training of quality manpower that will drive the healthcare delivery system in the efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.



The Bishop on the Niger, Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo thanked the Governor for fulfilling promises made to the people and commended his unrelenting efforts to reposition the health centre. He noted than God is using the Governor to touch lives and expressed gratitude to the Governor for his various interventions in the hospital.


The Transition Committee Chairman Idemili North Mr. Ralph Nnabuife extolled the Governor's passion for the collective well being of the people and his regular support to various institutions across the State.
