EDUCATIONISTS PRAISE CRESCENT VARSITY PROPRIETOR'S EFFORTS
The Director, Inaayatillah International School, Iwo, Osun State, Dr Sirajudeen Bilal has applauded the joint efforts of Proprietor, Crescent University, Abeokuta, Judge Bola Ajibola and government of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of education.
During his courtesy visit to Crescent University, Dr Bilal commended and described as encouraging the partnership of Saudi Arabia with the institution for building a 160-capacity hostel on the university campus.
In similar development, the Vice director of Studies, City Model Schools, Port Harcourt, Mr Abdussalam Abdullateef, during his students' excursion to Crescent University, described Judge Ajibola as a model in education sector of the country.
He said “in education today, there is no way the name of Prince Bola Ajibola would not be mentioned. Students want to grow up and be like you”.
Fielding questions from the students on world court, litigation, arbitration and International Court of Justice, Judge Ajibola said “ I am so delighted to have you here, coming from different parts of Nigeria so that ultimately we can all speak in one voice”.
He said his hard work emanated from a quotation “the height that great men reached and kept were not attained by a sudden flight but they while their companions are slept kept toiling on through the night” which he was told to memorise early in his life.
BURSARY STAFF ATTEND E-PAYMENT TRAINING
As part of the efforts of the management of Crescent University, Abeokuta to be electronically compliant in its transactions, the institution has recently embarked on training of its bursary staff on e-payment.
The university bursar, Alhaji Nurudeen Lawal, described the training as a good development, noting that the complementary part the training—the collection part— would give room for transaction and reconciliation.
The facilitator of the training, Dr Akingbola Oduntan of Systemspecs Limited said the training was to ensure that payments were done electronically rather than manually, where the university would be able to credit accounts of its beneficiaries from the comfort of its campus.
'USE LINGUA FRANCA', STUDENTS URGED
Crescent University students have been urged to speak in a language that is understood by their colleagues to avoid mutual suspicion and fractionalisation.
In an interactive session with staff and students, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Hassan Kehinde Okeleye said although there should be room to learn one another's language, the proper means of communication on campus due to differing backgrounds of students is English Language.
He said “every student should live peacefully and cordially with fellow students” to achieve mutual respect.
Okeleye also charged students on good maintenance culture.
