ONITSHA INDUSTRIES AFTER THE FLOOD

Governor Peter Obi has initiated measures to assist industries affected by the recent flood disaster to resume production. Governor Obi disclosed this while inspecting some affected industries at the Habour Industrial Layout, Onitsha.


Governor Obi said Government was greatly concerned that huge facilities employing a lot of workers have now shut down and the workers temporarily out of job because of damages suffered from the flood.


He explained that the visit was to ascertain the level of destruction wrecked by the flood and discuss ways government can support them to bring back their facilities to life.


The Governor disclosed that a meeting will hold in a few weeks time to enable government and the industrialists discuss on how to kick start the industries again as well as how to secure the entire area.


One of the Chief Executives of the affected companies, Krisoral Group, Mr. Christopher Oranu said the Governor's visit was source of encouragement and morale booster.


Mr. Oranu noted that the Governor is a man of his words and expressed the hope that he will restore smiles on their faces.


The production manager of one of the companies, Bororo Pipes and Profiling, Mr. Nevil Seram said they were forced to stop production because of destruction from the flood. He said that about four hundred million naira worth of electrical components were destroyed and explained that the target is to resume production by April next year.
