BENIN, July 26, (THEWILL) - At least four people are reported to have been killed in a fresh clash between rival cult gangs in Benin, the capital of Edo state.

All four were killed on Wednesday night.
One of them, Nosa Ebohon, a fresh graduate of the University of Benin (Uniben), was reportedly shot while he was in the house of a friend at Ugbowo, on the outskirts of the city.

Another victim, simply identified as Clifford and also known as Lekeleke, was gunned down at Okhoro in Benin City.

He was with his wife and a friend when he was attacked, according to eyewitnesses. “Three men entered Lekeleke’s shop, shot him many times, and made away with the phones of other people in the shop,” one of them said.

Two others were also said to have been hit, one at Adolor College road in Ugbowo, and the other at Zabayor Street, Stadium Road.

Confirming the killings, public relations officer of the Edo State Police Command, DSP Anthony Airhuoyo said he did not have adequate information, as he was yet to contact the divisional police officers in the areas where the killings were masterminded. But he assured that investigations had already begun even if no arrest had been made.
