KWANKWASO VS INDABAWA: PLAINTIFF REJECTS COUNSEL

By NBF News

There was a twist of events at the Federal High Court Kano yesterday when Hassan Sani Indabawa rejected the appearance of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki as his counsel in the case he filed against the election of Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as winner of the April governorship election in Kano.

When the case came up yesterday before Justice Sani Yahaya, Indabawa told the court that his counsel is Dr. Nasiru Adamu Aliyu, and that he never engaged Turaki to appear for him nor did his counsel inform him that Kabiru Turaki would appear on his behalf.

Turaki however told the court that Dr. Nasiru Aliyu could not appear because he was out of town, urging the court to adjourn the case. Counsel to Governor Kwankwaso, Chief Akin Olujimi did not object to the request, and Justice Shehu Yahaya adjourned the case to November 22nd, 2011.

Hassan Sani Indabawa is challenging the eligibility of Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to contest the April election as according to him, the information the governor gave on his INEC contest form was false.
