In Maiduguri, Boko Haram Strikes Again

LAGOS, SEPTEMBER 13, (THEWILL) – Less than 48 hours after publicly announcing its intention to raid 20 Nigerian institutions of learning with bombs, deadly extremist Islam group, the Boko Haram, yesterday struck in a Maiduguri bar, gunning down four people.

Abubakar Kabiru, spokesman for the Police in the north eastern state said “the Boko Haram members went to the beer parlour at about 8pm on Monday, killing three customers and the owner of the joint." He also confirmed that the sect, which is already canvassing wholesale application of Sharia law all over the country, had a day earlier killed two people.

Borno State Police chief, Simeon Midenda also confirmed the latest raid; and although no arrests have been made, he said: “From all indications, the attackers were from the Boko Haram sect.... A group of gunmen stormed a beer parlour in Jajeri area last night and opened fire, killing four people and seriously wounding another.”

Just yesterday, authorities of the Universities of Ibadan and Benin confirmed receiving electronic mails from the sect, on its resolve to bomb their campuses in its determination to “stop” western education in Nigeria, a situation already generating panic among students and staff.
