Akpabio curses any govt. that neglects devt of Ikot Ekpene

Akwa Ibom Governor, Chief Godswill O. Akpabio has placed a curse on any incoming administration in the state that fails to develop Ikot Ekpene Local Government Council as the pioneer local government in the Country and in West Africa. 

Chief Akpabio who stated this Thursday during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Rally held at the Sports Stadium recalled that the colonial masters used Ikot Ekpene then as headquarters to experiment local government administration in the 50s.

The Governor who expressed displeasure with the decaying infrastructure in Ikot Ekpene explained that this compelled his government to site several development projects in the area to befit its status.

He announced that his administration has completed arrangements to relocate Ikot Ekpene Prisons to a new site constructed and completed by the present government to give the area a facelift as well as to dualise Uyo-Ikot Ekpene Road to accommodate an influx of traffic.

Akpabio appealed to the people to vote him again into power during the forthcoming elections to enable him to do more for the area, which according to him, is his second home.

Pastor Sunny Ibuot, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Chairman, said he was proud of the governor in undertaking many people-oriented projects in the area, and assured to vote massively for him again to continue in his good works to the people.

Chief Sunny Ibanga, Chairman of PDP Chapter Chairmen in Akwa Ibom thanked the governor for development strides, and promised to deliver the 73,000 votes in the area to him in the April general elections.

Engr. Etido Inyang, Special Adviser on Technical Matters, described the governor's visit as another homecoming for a performer and a mentor and thanked him for the development of the area 37 years after the area was neglected development wise.

Sir Michael Udofia, a one-tine Deputy Governor in the state, assured to embark on house-to-house and ward-to-ward campaign to mop up support for the governor during the forthcoming elections.

Senator Emmanuel Ibokessien, a member of Revenue and Mobilisation and Fiscal Allocation Committee in Abuja commended the Akpabio for his numerous achievements, and pledged readiness of the people to vote for him en masse during the elections.   

Obonganwan Regina Udoma, PDP Woman representative in Ikot Ekpene acknowledged the various contributions made by the governor to the area and assured him of their support during the elections.
