YOUTH CALLS FOR FAIRNESS IN HOSPITAL'S BOSS APPOINTMENT

By NBF News

AN amalgamation of youth groups in Keffi, Nasarawa State yesterday called on the board chairman of Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, Gen.  Salihu Ibrahim (rtd) to ensure justice  in the appointment of a substantive chief medical director for the hospital

The groups, which reviewed the current crisis that erupted over the proposed appointment of Dr Joshua Ndom Gyan as substantive boss of the hospital, warned that any attempt to appoint a non indigene would be inimical to the peaceful coexistence amongst staff of the place.

They noted in a communiqué released after the meeting that since all federal medical centres and teaching hospitals in the country are being headed by indigenes, FMC Keffi should not be an exemption.

According to them there was fear of possible unrest and uncertainty among residents of Keffi following the recent peaceful protest against the appointment of Dr Gyan, and warned that it would be ill-advised for the Federal Government not to respect the wish of the people in the interest of peace in the community.

However, in a prompt response,  board chairman, Gen Salihu Ibrahim refuted the allegations, saying there is no plan to impose Dr Gyan as CMD of the hospital because 'result of the  recent interview conducted for the appointment of a substantive CMD is not out yet.'
