SAN FRANCISCO, Nov 22, (THEWILL) – The Delta State Acting Governor, Rt. Honourable Sam Obi has dissolved the state Executive Council.

A statement from the Secretary to the State Government (SS), Mrs. Beatrice Omeni said the dissolution is with immediate effect.

The statement directed all Commissioners to handover to the Permanent Secretaries (PS) in their ministries or the most senior Directors.

“All serving commissioners have been directed to hand over the management of their ministries and Directorates as well government properties to Permanent Secretaries or the most senior Directors,” the statement said.

No date has been set for the reconstitution of the cabinet but a senior state government source told THEWILL in a conference call that all the commissioners except four will be returned.

He said their names will be sent to House of Assembly tomorrow (Tuesday) for clearance.

The source further added that the dissolution and reconstitution is being done to give legitimacy to the Exco as an Appeal Court had ruled that the former Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, who constituted the cabinet was not duly elected as Governor.
