N'DELTA YOUTHS TASK NDDC OVER RECRUITMENT

By NBF News

Crisis is brewing in the volatile Niger Delta Region as the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) was reported to have abandoned about 2000 technical aid corp graduates, who were recruited recently.

The recruitment was aimed at empowering youths in the region to acquire various skills and work experience, followingFederal Government's amnesty programme.

Apart from abandoning the youths and not placing them in various establishments to acquire the promised skills, the NDDC was also reported to have refused to pay them their advertised entitlements since they were recruited with. This has resulted in some of them threatening to return to the creeks to take care of themselves due to the lukewarm approach of the commission.

Our investigation revealed that when the programme was announced, it received nationwide commendation from stakeholders in the region and about 54,000 graduates applied for the programme out of which only 2000 were engaged.
