Nigeria's First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Afrobeat stars Davido, Burna Boy, and Asake to channel their wealth into humanitarian efforts.

Speaking on Saturday during the launch of the national community food basket in Lokoja, Kogi State, she urged the musicians to follow the example of Senegalese-American singer Akon.

She further acknowledged that while luxury cars and lavish lifestyles are fine, the government alone cannot bear the burden of poverty.

Appealing to the entertainers to set up foundations and actively contribute to helping the less privileged, she noted that their influence and resources could go a long way in supporting the poor.

She said:
"We have a lot of wealthy people. But our priorities are different. I want to appeal to young ones in the entertainment industry. I'll use a music icon, Akon, who does a lot of great charity work.

"Asake, Davido, the Burna Boys of this world, and all of them. We want to see you with one foundation or the other, helping the poor with your money.

"The burden on the government is huge. Good cars are good; a Maybach and Rolls-Royce are good, but still you can help."
