Mr P Slams Crtitcs, Warns Them Against Forcing Him Into Retirement
Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has lashed out at critics who have urged him to call it quits on his music career.
Recall that The Nigerian Voice had reported that the singer has recently been subjected to criticisms, with some netizens urging him to retire.
Addressing the criticisms in a recent interview on The Best FM, the half of the now-defunct PSquare group, maintained that there is no such thing as retirement in music.
He pointed out how late pop icon Michael Jackson, despite attaining the age of 50, was still planning a tour before his death.
Mr P stressed that age-shaming is now the norm in the society.
He said:
"We should be careful of how people try to put others down. There’s no retirement in music. I don’t know why some people think there’s retirement in music.
“Michael Jackson was over 50 and was still planning a world tour before he died. It’s only in Nigeria that somebody would just wake up and start calling on musicians yo retire. I have seen some people do the same thing to Wizkid."
