Uduaghan Swears In Delta's First Female SSG, Calls For Dedication

ASABA, July 23, (THEWILL) - The first female Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG), Dr. Mrs. Beatrice Omeni was Thursday, sworn in by the state Governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan with a charged to the new SSG to remain steadfast and dedicated and not to allow the ongoing politicking distract and make her loose focus.

Dr. Uduaghan, while performing the swearing in ceremony at the Government House, Asaba said the position of SSG was strategic and central in achieving the three point agenda of his government.

He stressed that the SSG’s office is the engine room of government and urged her to be versatile and knowledgeable on government programmes to enable her perform, adding that she should handle issues dispassionately and demonstrate calmness, level headedness and diligence in the discharge of her duties.

"Try and remain on the part of truth and honour. Be diligent and calm and let God direct you."

Governor Uduaghan who enjoined her to apply the rules especially due process so that probity and accountability would govern her action on issues also charged public office holders in the state to cooperate and assist her to enable her succeed.

"I call on public officers to be cautious and allow due process to govern their activities. The new SSG is your friend when you are doing the right things but you may not be comfortable with her if you are on the wrong track, "he said.

Dr. Uduaghan gave kudos to the former SSG Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for his contributions to the achievements recorded so far by his administration.

He described the former SSG as steadfast, calm and hard working and promised to make him the Chairman of his campaign organization when he opens campaign for his second term in office.

The governor disclosed that he accepted the former SSG’s decision to further his political ambition because of his firm belief that Dr. Okowa is very relevant in the PDP family.

Responding the new SSG Dr. Mrs. Beatrice Omeni, promised not to betray the trust placed on her.

Dr. Mrs. Omeni said she was overwhelmed by the appointment and expressed profound appreciation to the governor for finding her worthy for the position.

She is the first female Secretary to State Government since the creation of Delta State.
