National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a man for allegedly being in possession of 1kg of cocaine at Seme in Badagry, near Lagos.

Commander of the NDLEA in the area, Nicholas Ajaduruonye, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Badagry that the suspect was on his way to Cotonou, Benin Republic, to board a plane for Italy before he was arrested.

He said the suspect concealed the substance in container of an okro soup to beat security checks at the border.

``The substance was concealed in a container with the inscription of natural honey. There were a total of 71 wraps in the container filled with okra soup,''  Ajaduruonye said.

He said the Edo-born 30-year-old man, who was arrested on May 30, was still being interrogated.

``From preliminary investigations, the suspect said he was introduced into the business after he was stranded in Italy sometime ago,'' Ajaduruonye added.

The NDLEA chief disclosed that two travel documents, indicating that the suspect had made two trips to Italy in three months were also found on him.
